Rotten Tomatoes audience: 87% -- It's long, but The Batman looks and sounds great, and its grounded take on Gotham is a solid fit for this Caped Crusader.

Other details: Reboot of the Batman franchise which has included several films in the past with different iterations of the character. It is intended to be the first in a trilogy of new Batman films with two TV series being developed for HBO Max. 

How it was shot: However, the team on The Batman took it one step further. They shot digitally on an ARRI Alexa LF, transferred the digital footage to a film negative, and then to an interpositive, an orange-based motion picture film with a positive image made from the negative. Finally, it was scanned back into digital.

CGI: It looks realistic because of a blend of CGI and practical effects. Only used CGI when absolutely necessary. Eg. Orcs were actors in prosthetics, while The Hobbit was criticised for over-use of CGI for the Orcs.
