"SMILE" *ROUGH EDIT* Preliminary Task 1
FEEDBACK:
Teacher Bianca:
Some pointers to consider;
- Do you want to challenge the convention of an establishing shot to set the scene for the audience or are you deliberately challenging that convention? A few handheld shots of the place at night or even as CCTV footage (creepy, abandoned hallways) could set the scene well?
- Your opening credits don’t need all roles, only main ones like main actors / directors
- Your yellow balloon clown-face is effective (very creepy). Did you want to introduce the symbolic prop earlier on to foreshadow what’s going to happen? Perhaps part of the opening shots interwoven with establishing shots are shots of the balloons being blown up but we don’t know why?
- Your sound is great! It needs tweaking when the killer is speaking so we hear his voice clearly.
- Your soundtrack (called a score when no song being sung) is effective but needs to be more dynamic when the victim leaves the office. Think about points of rising tension and work out how to increase the tension audio-wise to match what’s happening on screen
